Things I am grateful for:

My husband -
He hasn't divorced me yet.
My children -
For still loving me no matter what.
My friends -
I know now who my real ones are.
My sisters -
We've been through a lot lately, it's good to know we've got each other's back.

Time flies by quicker than we can imagine. I'm hoping to get my life back in some sort of order soon.
Till then, I'm hoping it won't be 4 months between postings.

Thursday, July 23

Today is my father's 74th birthday.

Happy Birthday Dad.

Friday, June 5

I know it's been a year, but it still hurts like it was yesterday.

Monday, June 1

Wow. It's been a while.

Sorry
My life kinda spun out of control again. With on going health issues, the shop, both shop e-mails getting completely filled with spam (WTF. 325 in the first 2 days?!?!), and anniversaries looming on the horizon, I’m guessing it’s not getting better any time soon.

I do have good news.
Jan is officially in remission. I got to see her and #2 last weekend, and she looks awesome! Could use a few pounds, and needs to rest more, but her hair started growing back and she looks great!
Whirlwind visit involving driving up to NY and back home in a day, but it was worth it just to see her with my own eyes.

I can’t tell you how useless I feel not being able to be closer to my family right now. Marsha is in FL with them now, so at least Jan isn’t dealing with my parents alone. Dad is still not doing all that great. We’ll find out Friday (supposedly) more on what’s going on, but I’m just hoping he feels better for day to day living.

The shop is great, just loads of work, and hopefully, I’ll get all the glitches fixed.
If you’ve e-mailed or called, I’m working on it. I have to blow all my mail boxes out. Then I can start from scratch.

When will I learn that technology and I don’t mix?

I’m allergic to my own store.

It’s my own darn fault. I thought it would be a great idea to line some of the shelves with cedar. This way, the yarn does not fall through, and I don’t have to worry about bugs.

Naturally, it triggered an immediate allergic reaction. By the end of the day, my eyes were swollen and my nose ran enough to fill a bucket.

Naturally, it went straight to my lungs and chest, so I have a sinus infection and bronchitis.

But for a new twist, it also infected my gums so the left side of my face was swollen.

Day 5 of antibiotics mean that I’m starting to drain. Joy. And today is Ash Wednesday, and bible study, and a half school day, which means I don’t get to snuggle on the couch all day. Darn.

I’m hoping, since I’m there every day, my body gets used to it quickly. If not, I’ll be looking into buying stock in Kleenex. That’s Johnson & Johnson, right?

Verizon sucks.

And I mean that in the nicest way.

NOT

So after 6 days, 8 hours on my cell, and a lost voice, I still have no internet access at the shop.

No phone, fax, or CC processing.

I think I was nice enough until I finally snapped this afternoon. Nittany thought it was cute listening to my squeaky voice yelling at them. Did I mention the fact that I lost my voice?

Some guy named John in dispatch had pity on me and gave me his cell number to call him when he gets in tomorrow.

He says all the tek guys lie, and he’ll get it all straightened out tomorrow.

We’ll see.

For tonight, I’m in Sofa City with a puking Frack.

Guess what I’ll be doing tomorrow.

Monday, February 9

Wow! What a week!

Many, many thanks go out to everyone who came out last week to show their support. It means so much to me that you all came!

It was a great first week!

Everyone liked the changes, and I’m rather relieved about it. In my book, change is good, but I have been known to overdo on the purple on occasion…

I’ve also been trying to keep up with my pictures, and am hoping to upload them to flicker at some point.

The girls have been adjusting. They are kinda upset that I’m not their 24/7 beck-and-call-girl, but they love the sitter (aka Nanny) and she’s happy to be with them 2 days a week.

As soon as things get into a routine, I promise to post more.

I might even have a FO or two to show off!

In other news:

Dad is out of the hospital!
Marsha is in FL for a few dealing with the rents and helping out Jan.
Jan is up to her last 2 rounds of chemo!!!
And,
Niece is loving college.

We’re getting there!

Weather Gods!

So we had an ice storm here in Howard County last night. It’s purty…

It was entertaining to watch the dog do her Bambi imitation as she went out this morning. I would have videotaped it, but I’m afraid of animal welfare coming to get me.

Although I have TONS to do at the shop, this means I can spend my morning setting up the website.

That's how many pounds of yarn were delivered yesterday.
and I have LOTS more coming.

The good news is that I can officially open on Monday.
The bad news is that I open on Monday without my Rowan order being on the shelves.
The good news is that the Rowan should be in by the end of next week.
The bad news is that ..
Nope!
It's ALL good right now.

OMG - the shop opens on the 2nd!!!

Looking forward to seeing some of you there!

Saturday, January 17

Tired

But in a good way.

I’ve been really busy trying to get the shop ready. I’ve been cleaning, moving stuff around, spending WAY too much money…

I’m hoping everyone will like the new place. I wanted to make it an open space with lots of light and great things to look at!

One of the things Nittany and I discussed was the need for a place that didn’t put you in overload. We wanted to create a relaxing place where you can feel the peace as soon as you walk in.

I’m hoping everyone will like the yarns I’ve ordered, and all the changes we’ve made.
Now it’s time to finish up the grunt work so I don’t have to spend all afternoon at the shop tomorrow.

GO RAVENS!!!

edit to add:
Large Marge's Yarn Shop it is!
I'll post the website as soon as I get it running the way I like it.
It's in the same place as the former Celtic Knot.

Wednesday, January 14

Slacker!

That would be me.

In my defense, these past few days have been insane. I don’t call this place Casa Chaos for nothing!

I’ve been trying to get things done for the store, Dad’s been in ICU at a hospital in FL since last Monday night, Jan is starting round 4 of chemo treatments this week, the girls started CCD again for the year this past Monday night, and Frick had her first meeting for Reconciliation Tuesday night.

I’m a bit frazzled right now.

The good news is that Dad’s health is improving. Considering the doctor gave my mom the choice of operating or just letting him die, I’ll take any improvement.

The good news is that Jan has been responding well to treatments. As she put it, she needs to finish them soon because she doesn’t have time for cancer.

The good news is that I have a store to obsess over, and everything is going well. Scary well…

So all in all, I guess I should be happy. I even took a picture almost all the days so far…
this is the day...

365 in 52

This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

It is my favorite psalm, but I constantly forget to believe in it. This year, I hope I can do it.

I started my new year off early. Monday was the first day of my 365 project, and I’m optimistic.

I’m thinking it’ll be easier to post the 52 as opposed to the 365. I’m going with my given track record here…

So, in theory, I’ll be taking daily pictures of my life, and posting the re-cap weekly. Both Frick and Frack decided to do it as well, so I’m planning on making a family album.
Marsha thinks it’ll be a great thing for them to do if they keep it up. She got them each a scrapbook.
This should prove to be interesting.

As you can see, the reason I started on Monday was because of the red letter day it was.

As the NY lottery commission put it:
All you need is a dollar and a dream…

I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to live out a dream.
I, Large Marge, am now a business owner.

I’m the proud proprietor of Large Marge’s Yarn Shop!

I’m still a bit giddy from it all, and have A LOT of work ahead of me to have it up and running in a few weeks, but I think I’m ready!

So, if you’re game, stick around, and let’s see what I can do with it!
