Things I really don’t want to hear:

I’m a bit crazed right now.
These past few months have been FROTH with just plain crap and I just don’t have it in me to care anymore.
The only thing keeping me sane is the fact that S&W is just a few days away.

So, just to get it off my chest so I can move on, I thought I’d share some of my all-time favorite comments I’ve heard lately.

At your age.
Until I’m applying for social security, I never want to hear those words again.

I hate you. You’re skinny.
And have been all my life. I’m pushing 40 and have 2 children. If I haven’t gained the weight yet, I never will.
Get over it.

Are you feeling O.K.?
No. If I felt ok I wouldn’t be paying homage to the porcelain god offering up everything I’ve eaten since I was 12.

You’re not pregnant again, are you?
Are you supporting us? Unless you are, if want to have 15 kids it really is none of your business if I am or not. (For the record, I’m not)

You don’t work? It must be nice to have all that free time.
Why yes. It’s amazing how much free time you have when the house elves do all the laundry, cooking, cleaning, scheduling appointments, shopping, menu planning, lesson planning, teaching, chauffeuring…

Why haven’t you called?
Gee, sorry. I was too busy eating bon-bons, watching soap operas and overseeing the house elves.

Must be nice to be able to stay home.
Yes it is.
It was the thought of that which kept me going for 2 years working 2 jobs so that I could be debt free before CFO and I got married. Rarely seeing him while he worked full time and went back to school getting another degree so he could get a better job so that I could be home with our future family.

And believe it or not, I'm not bitter...

A little fun

William Shakespeare was born this month. I didn't want it to let that slip by.

William Shakespeare poetry machine.

Thursday, April 26

I didn’t get to go see sheep last weekend.

Life being life, I couldn’t get away at all.

So I consoled myself with a trip to NY without the students yesterday (I had CFO substitute for the day.) .

Carole played hookie with me and we took a quick (Amazing how fast you can get there when you don’t have to make multiple potty stops, food stops, just because stops..) day trip to see the Montel Williams Show and see Sylvia Browne.

The socks got a brush with fame.

Lucky me, I know someone who works there so they didn’t say anything (to my face) when I asked if anyone minded my taking pictures.

Being the responsible adults we are, we decided to skip the yarn shops to avoid getting stuck in traffic.

Only the promise of S&W fortified me on the way home...

Happy 21st Birthday Nephew!

Usually, every year on his birthday he reminds me that he was born my senior year of high school.

Then he reminds me hold old he is now.

Then he likes to point out that it makes me old.

I love him anyway.

I hope to celebrate many more with you!

If all goes well –

Tomorrow I’ll be here:

Clark’s Elioak Farm

APRIL 21-22, 2007

SHEEP and WOOL WEEKEND.
DANIELA ANDERSON will show us fibers from raw to finished, different types and qualities of wool and do spinning demonstrations. Kids of all ages will get a hands-on opportunity to experience the art of spinning. Also come see Border Collie sheep herding demonstrations at 1:00 PM both days with our resident shepherd, JANET HARVEY.

Frick was complaining that I refused to take her to S&W this year. Lucky me this came up.

With enough allergy medication in me, I should be able to do it and not have to drive myself to the hospital.

Wish me luck!

Different strokes for different folks

Yes, I’m weird that way, but let me explain…

I have 2 older sisters. Marsha, Jan and I shared a room until I was in the 6th grade.

Our mother (in her infinite wisdom) decided that we, since we were girls, and shared a room, and were only 5 yrs apart in age, would have a pink room.

This pink room included fuchsia walls, pink and white chenille bedspreads, white beds…can you picture it yet?

For a while, every few years, she would have our room re-painted.

Fuchsia.

Every day of our lives that I can remember up until I was in the 6th grade, I lived in a fuchsia room.

Marsha doesn’t care either way. She can take or leave pink.

Jan likes pink A LOT. (I am SO glad she’s pregnant with a boy!!!)

And I can't stand the color. (Which is why God gave me 2 daughters. One of which is the biggest girlie girl I know after Jan.)

This is not to say I will not touch pink at all.

I’ve been known to knit pink on several occasions, mostly for my daughters, or one of my sisters, or something for breast cancer awareness.

(Before I forget: Mary – Frick took one look at the yarn you sent and asked what I would make her with it! Ginger Pie – good call. I just might do the charity thing!)

I just refuse to wear it at all.

No, I really can’t let some things go.

I ordered Vermillion, but I'm NOT bitter...

So I signed up for the Hill Country Yarns sock contest. After checking out the color choices on 4 different computers, I ordered Vermillion.
I’ve always loved the name and color. I’m all excited about getting some deep, warm, rich red.

It came. Finally, it came, and I received their Sweet Feet. It looks crazy neat, and I couldn’t wait to rip it open and try it out.
But…
The color is best described as a dusty pink.

When I e-mailed them, they were wonderful and said I was more than welcome to return it and they would replace it with the color of my choice. Their Vermillion is a deep burgundy color, and sometimes, if it’s the end of a batch or something, it’ll be a bit lighter.

OK

Since my life is CHAOS, I decided to keep it and move on.

If nothing else, they will make a great Christmas present when finished.

The sick thing is, the pattern I have in mind will work with this color.
Work really well.

Sick and wrong, I have to knit pink. (the gal from Hill Country suggested I should think of it as a White Zin instead) :O)

Sicker and wronger, I think I’ll like it when it’s done.

But I still won’t wear them!

Patience is a Virtue…

So Nephew just got there. It hasn’t been a week yet, but it’s official. His tour is being extended to 15 months.

Monday, April 9

Happy Birthday Jan!

I'll be waiting

My nephew was deployed on Thursday. I’ve been kinda a mess since then.
When I spoke to him on Monday, he knew he’d be leaving soon, but promised to call before he did.
I didn’t get to speak to him again before he left (He got 3 hours notice).
It worked out that his father was able to go Ft. Lewis for a quick visit, so they were together when he got the call to leave.

Luckily, THESE LADIES were there to give them the send-off they deserve.
(If you go to pictures for Meeting the Troops in Bangor, under April on page 8, he’s the 2nd pic – partial tag reads AVITA. There are a few other shots of him- 3 that I found - but this one is the best.)
How can we possibly thank them for all they do?

For all believers, please keep him and all service personnel in your prayers.
For those who are not, please think happy thoughts.
They are there to do their jobs.

Snow flurries and the Easter bunny

It’s a good thing the Easter Bunny isn’t afraid of a few flurries.

Happy Easter to all believers.

Tuesday, April 3

Tada!!!

The sad thing is, I don’t know if I like it.

STT thinks I should felt it. I think I might just as a science experiment.

I have enough yarn and it was easy enough to make another if I don’t like it felted.

I’m mainly torn about the ribbon. I could make it longer so it doesn’t bunch up at the top.

Naturally, it means making another liner since that would be too small as well…
