I’m home.
I’ll post as soon as I can make my brain function.
Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays!

Merry Christmas !
I’m almost done with my holiday knitting. I realized that I needed my niece’s legs to finish her stockings, so I’ll be working on that while I’m in Florida.
I’ve packed my knitting (3 projects to keep me busy), a book, and have 2 audiobooks loaded in my ipod. That should keep me busy.
I wish everyone a happy and safe holiday.

I swear the weather gods are against me!
1. Clean out guest room and change sheets (my nephew gets in tomorrow morning).
2. Go to Blockbuster for gift certificates.
3. Go to Dunkin Doughnuts for gift certificates.
4. Go to the library for books and to pay an obscene fine.
5. Go to the supermarket for snacks for the road trip, groceries for the rest of the week, and food for Frick’s b-day dinner.
6. Go to JoAnne’s for one last gift.
7. Go to Post Office to mail out Frick’s progress report for school and to pick up stamps so I can:
8. Write and send out Christmas Cards.
9. Get Frick to piano lesson.
10. Make food for CFO’s work potluck Christmas party.
11. Go to Target to get party supplies for tomorrow.
12. Bake and decorate Frick's birthday cake.
And today’s forecast is:
Monday, Dec 18
High: 66 °F
Breezy and warm with a blend of sun and clouds
Sigh.
We’ll be at the park.

Denial ain't just a river in Egypt.

And this?
And this?
It's what I've been doing this week instead of this:

And I have 6 days to get it all done while cleaning out the guest room for my nephew's visit, doing laundry, cleaning the house, packing for the trip, christmas shopping, and planning Frick's 6th birthday party.
Sure, I've got time...

See this?

This is what I need to make me feel better.
Martini, new project, knit picks catalog so I can place the order for my Christmas present to me (Finally ordered Meg Swansen’s Knitting!!!!!!!), and yarn to cast on my Arwen (again). This all will be savored tonight as I watch season 1 of Absolutely Fabulous!
Why do I need to feel better?
Because this morning I decided I couldn’t put off quilting the Irish Wedding Chain top I pieced for Mom & Dad. Not if I want them to get it for Christmas.
So I got the sucker out of the closet,

Measured, cut, and sewed the backing, basted the 3 layers together,

then sat down to measure and cut the bias binding.

Darn you bias binding!!! It’s kicking my arse.

Why can’t I do this?
I’ll be at my LQS tomorrow after church.

Thank you SP!

Since I knew there was no way I could get everything done on time to leave for sit n knit, I put it in my truck to avoid temptation.
So now I’m guessing my SP lives somewhere in the UK.
I opened it as soon as I got there. And this is what I found:
(Or she has a friend who lives in the UK and she mailed it to her to mail to me…)

Frick & Frack got some great goodies in their favorite colors. Javajem and I had the same thought when we saw the rulers. Quilting! (Yes, I did give it to them, and they LOVED them. Good call!)

Many masterpieces are already gracing our walls with the glitter crayons.
Now I’m wondering if I ever mentioned our love for castles and old estates because she hit it right on the head with our new calendar.
The girls and I are beyond happy, and if it weren’t for the fact that she doesn’t like to fly, Frick would have our European vacation planned already! (She's been working on CFO and I in hopes that we would agree to taking a boat across the pond...)And the yarn! Lots and lots of yummy yarn.
Kaffe Fassett kid silk, FAB Limbo superwash, and Silk Wool DK weight .
LOVE IT it!!
Thank you SP!

A Tale of Two Projects
These are the above the knee socks for my 16yo niece. She picked out the yarn 2 summers ago and I've finally figured the whole toe-up heel turn thing. Granted, try # 1 had to be frogged since:a- The heel turn sucked, and
b- It was WAY too big even for her size 9's
They are both turned now, so all I have to do is work the leg until I run out of yarn.
There is hope that they will be finished by Christmas eve.
And set back:
This was my Arwen cardigan.

This is what happens when you don't swatch.
Took me 10 inches to get the right measurements.
This is my Arwen cardigan covered in wine.
(Notice Frack's sippy cup filled with hot chocolate suspiciously close to my wineglass? I’ll say no more.)I guess it's good that I was going frog her anyway.
How glad am I that it was the back that got soaked?
At least you'll never see the wine stains. :O)
I hope to cast on again before Thursday where I will be at Sit n Knit w/o Frick and Frack since, as Frick said to Frack when we were leaving last week,
"I don't think we'll be coming back until next year."

Hello and Goodbye.
Monday I got the call that my nephew’s best friend got in safely from his extended tour of duty in Iraq. He should have been home in time for Thanksgiving, but at least he is home safe. Many boys from his platoon were not so lucky.
Today, STT, Carole, CFO and I went to Arlington National Cemetery to be with KnitGlit as she said goodbye to her dad.
It was one of the most moving experiences of my life. You cannot attend a funeral there and not be moved. All I could do as I stood there was pray to God that I would never have to return for another.
From sobs of relief that Michael came home to sobs of grief for all those who didn’t in 5 days can make your head spin. I will keep praying for the safety of all troops, and for a resolution to all this.
